I'm thinking about trying online poker, and I keep hearing about Bovada. Has anyone played there? What was your experience - good, bad, or somewhere in between?

Bovada Casino offers sports betting, online casino games, and online poker. It is legal in the USA, but five states are excluded: DE, MD, NV, NJ, and NY. If you live in one of these states, you cannot play on Bovada. The same applies to players from other countries - if you can’t access it, try a sister site; if that doesn’t work, you’re out of luck.

Important: There is no Bovada app. Do not download anything from the Google Play Store or Apple App Store claiming to be a Bovada app - it’s a scam. Bovada works entirely through your web browser.

I started playing on Bovada about three years ago. I could double my money, but just when it felt good, the odds would flip and my balance would nosedive. There was one slot game, Alien Fruits, that I loved. I once hit $8,000 on a $1,000 spin and cashed out multiple times - but then they updated it, and now it’s absolute trash.

I've lost thousands on Bovada. Even when I win some money back, I make the mistake of continuing to play. One thing I’ve noticed is that just before you rank up in their tier system, you’re likely to win a substantial amount.

At first, the wins were smaller - about $1K before the first rank-up. The next level brought in around $5-10K. After that, I won about $20K, and the following rank-up hit $50K. Now, the only step left is the Hall of Fame tier, but that would require depositing about $25K.

I’ve withdrawn money before, but there’s a limit - $15K every 15 minutes. Each time, you need a new Bitcoin address. To do that, use blockchain as an intermediary to generate new addresses, then transfer the funds to your wallet. Without an intermediary, services like Cash App, Uphold, and others might detect the gambling activity and close your account.
